Not so breaking news....the Twins have traded Carlos Gomez (OF, bench) to the Brewers for J. J. Harvy (SS).
I think with this trade we can wrap up the Santana trade as possibly the worst Twins trade in recent memory. Worse even than the Rays trade where the Twins shipped Garza and Bartlett for Delmond Young. The Twins don't even have a starter to show for it, Harvy played some AAA ball last year after getting demoted.
These trades combined should even us up with the baseball gods for the fleecing the Twins handed the Giants in the A. J. Pierzynski trade. The Twins received Boof Bonzer, Lariano, and Nathan in that gem. A trade which looked even more lop-sided a couple years ago.
Enough venting, I think this deal actually makes sense for both teams. The Twins needed to get rid of an outfielder and Gomez makes the most sense. In the process we may have acquired a solid shortstop, if J. J. can return to 2008 form.
