Bundesliga Sunday Review

Hamburg threw away a 2-0 half-time lead and the chance to go two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga as they drew 3-3 at Schalke.

Kevin Kuranyi scored twice, including a 90th-minute equaliser, to earn a point for Schalke, who had trailed to goals from Markus Berg and Piotr Trochowski at the break.

Lukas Schmitz made it 2-2 in the 62nd minute, a minute after Hamburg had seen defender David Rozehnal sent off.

Swede Berg put the 10 men back in front in the 79th minute, but they coul! d not hold out for the win.

Hamburg joined Bayer Leverkusen on 22 points at the top of the table.

Werder Bremen moved to within a point of the leaders as they came from behind to win 4-1 at Bochum.

Stanislav Sestak opened the scoring after just 38 seconds but Aaron Hunt equalised eight minutes later and Marko Marin put Bremen ahead 2-1 after 31 minutes.

Tim Borowski made it 3-1 after 76 minutes, and Mesut Ozil finished off the scoring a minute into stoppage time to leave Bochum winless against Werder at home in the last 11 years.

Second bottom Bochum remain four points above Hertha Berlin even though the capital club halted a run of eight successive defeats by holding defending champions Wolfsburg to a goalless draw.

It was a welcome clean sheet for the hosts, who had conceded 20 goals in their last six league matches.

The point was the first under coach Friedhelm Funkel and moved Hertha to within four of safety.
